About Gateway church
WElcome from Pastor Paul
We welcome you to Gateway Church. Consider visiting us on a Sunday Morning as we spend time in worship, encouragement and prayer. We have found a treasure in the person of Jesus Christ and his teachings and we would like to share what we have found with you. Jesus Christ can bring peace and restoration to the soul that is tattered and tested by its walk in the world. We look forward to seeing you.

WHAT we Believe
Here's a short version of what we believe, but if you want more info click the "Learn More" button below:
-
We believe there is one God, and in Him -- the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is our Creator and the Lord of Life.
-
We believe that the Bible is God's Word.
-
We believe that all men are sinful, but reconciled to God, through Jesus Christ.
-
We believe the Church is a living, spiritual community of believers of which Christ is the Head and we are members. The church is to be a witness for God in the world.
-
We believe the Lord's Supper and believer's baptism by immersion are commanded by Christ for observance by His Church.
Our story
The BEGINNINGS

In 1947 a group of Christians began meeting in a home for fellowship in the newly created suburban community of Island Trees. Their numbers started to increase and with the help of the Conservative Baptist Association property was purchased on Wolcott Road in Levittown. This group of believers organized under the name Wolcott Road Baptist Church. They called their first pastor, Rev. Samuel Scales, and held their first organized service under Pastor Scales in December of 1948. Our church incorporated on March 22, 1949 under the name Levittown Baptist Church.

Our first church building on Wolcott Road in Levittown was completed in the fall of 1949. Additional land was purchased in 1954 and our present church building was constructed in 1959. Our church has used its buildings for ministry to Christians in Central Nassau county and to share our faith in Christ with the community around us. Our church has always had a desire to share our Christian faith with the growing community around us and our members were instrumental in planting churches in the neighboring communities of Wantagh and Plainedge in 1952.

The PRESENT
From these beginnings we have continued through the years to provide a place of faith and community to the families of Central Nassau County. We have faithfully provided for worship, the study of God's Word and outreach into our community. We continue to offer ministries dedicated to worship, the teaching of his Word, the encouragement of our children and youth and supporting outreach in our community and around the world.

The FUTURE
In the summer of 2016 we changed the name of our ministry to Gateway Church Long Island. This new name was born of a desire to renew our commitment to reach another generation of people living in Nassau County with the good news of Jesus Christ. We believe in the message of our Lord Jesus that he is "the way, the truth and the life". We are committed to serve our God, to know his Word and to share our faith in Jesus Christ. We desire for others to discover the hope we have found in God and his church. We hope you will join us as we look to our God and his Word for hope and help in today's world.
