The Power of the Tongue

November 14, 2021 Preacher: Steve Schultz Series: Elders and Guest Preachers

Topic: Power of the Tongue Scripture: James 3:2-18

The Tongue is powerful and must be under control at all times.

The Tongue also refers to what your mind uses to communicate through word, writing, body lanquage, music, etc.

Christians are to Listen intently to what is being said, discern the situation and impact prior to honestly responding in a loving way.  Their words should be only encouragement for those who are listening.  The words should never be to build yourself up, but to build up those who you are speeking to.

Non Christians - use it to fool people, lie, Gossip, tear others down all for their own good and not that of others.

- Be quick to hear, but slow to answer.  Limit your word and be precise.

- Speaking Negatively is always self centered, so take every thought captive and be sure of what you want to say prior to responding.

The last fruit of the spirit is Self Control.  Control your tongue so that it only benefits those who you are talking too.
