Wonder, Merciful, Savior

Hallelujah for the Cross

- NEW TESTAMENT READING -

 1 Thessalonians 2:9-20

For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers. For you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.

And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers. For you, brothers, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea. For you suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they did from the Jews, who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out, and displease God and oppose all mankind by hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved—so as always to fill up the measure of their sins. But wrath has come upon them at last!

But since we were torn away from you, brothers, for a short time, in person not in heart, we endeavored the more eagerly and with great desire to see you face to face, because we wanted to come to you—I, Paul, again and again—but Satan hindered us. For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you? For you are our glory and joy.

- PASTORAL PRAYER -

Written by Gideon An

Father,
One of the best parts about praying that we often forget is that we get to call you Father. So before we even start praying, we want to acknowledge You in the way that our Lord Jesus taught us - by starting off with, our Father. Our gracious, kind, understanding & meek Father.

Thank You that prayer is not a duty, task or burden - but that it is a privilege, grace and honor.
Father, we pray that we as Redeeming Grace Fellowship would walk in a manner worthy of God and the gospel - as Paul and his companions taught the church at Thessalonica. In this season while many of us are home, help us to love, be patient and kind with each other.
We also ask that we would accept the teachings of our pastors, elders and teachers NOT as the words of men but as the very words of God - because that is what they are. Help us to believe & please increase our faith. Let Your word have its work in us that we may grow in the grace & knowledge of Jesus our Lord.
And lastly O' God, we long to see each other again, face to face - as Paul did for the Thessalonians. How long O' Lord? We completely desire to trust in Your provision in this unusual season - help us to do so, without grumbling & complaining. We are so prone to grumble & complain, Father. Forgive us.
With the time that we get back during this quarantine, take us deeper in our  1v1 times with you. Open up our eyes, satisfy us with Your steadfast love, and keep us O' King.
And now, show us Your face and let it shine upon us as we sing & hear from Your Word. Enflame our passions for You & soften the soil of our hearts.
We ask this humbly & desperately,
in Jesus Name.
Amen

Before the Throne of God Above

- OLD TESTAMENT READING-

Proverbs 30

The words of Agur son of Jakeh. The oracle.

The man declares, I am weary, O God;
    I am weary, O God, and worn out.
Surely I am too stupid to be a man.
    I have not the understanding of a man.
I have not learned wisdom,
    nor have I knowledge of the Holy One.
Who has ascended to heaven and come down?
    Who has gathered the wind in his fists?
Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment?
    Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and what is his son's name?
    Surely you know!

Every word of God proves true;
    he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Do not add to his words,
    lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.

Two things I ask of you;
    deny them not to me before I die:
Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
    give me neither poverty nor riches;
    feed me with the food that is needful for me,
lest I be full and deny you
    and say, “Who is the Lord?”
or lest I be poor and steal
    and profane the name of my God.

Do not slander a servant to his master,
    lest he curse you, and you be held guilty.

There are those who curse their fathers
    and do not bless their mothers.
There are those who are clean in their own eyes
    but are not washed of their filth.
There are those—how lofty are their eyes,
    how high their eyelids lift!
There are those whose teeth are swords,
    whose fangs are knives,
to devour the poor from off the earth,
    the needy from among mankind.

The leech has two daughters:
    Give and Give.
Three things are never satisfied;
    four never say, “Enough”:
Sheol, the barren womb,
    the land never satisfied with water,
    and the fire that never says, “Enough.”

The eye that mocks a father
    and scorns to obey a mother
will be picked out by the ravens of the valley
    and eaten by the vultures.

Three things are too wonderful for me;
    four I do not understand:
the way of an eagle in the sky,
    the way of a serpent on a rock,
the way of a ship on the high seas,
    and the way of a man with a virgin.

This is the way of an adulteress:
    she eats and wipes her mouth
    and says, “I have done no wrong.”

Under three things the earth trembles;
    under four it cannot bear up:
a slave when he becomes king,
    and a fool when he is filled with food;
an unloved woman when she gets a husband,
    and a maidservant when she displaces her mistress.

Four things on earth are small,
    but they are exceedingly wise:
the ants are a people not strong,
    yet they provide their food in the summer;
the rock badgers are a people not mighty,
    yet they make their homes in the cliffs;
the locusts have no king,
    yet all of them march in rank;
the lizard you can take in your hands,
    yet it is in kings' palaces.

Three things are stately in their tread;
    four are stately in their stride:
the lion, which is mightiest among beasts
    and does not turn back before any;
the strutting rooster, the he-goat,
    and a king whose army is with him.

If you have been foolish, exalting yourself,
    or if you have been devising evil,
    put your hand on your mouth.
For pressing milk produces curds,
    pressing the nose produces blood,
    and pressing anger produces strife.
