Our Story

The Beginning

In 1947 a group of Christians began meeting in a home for fellowship in the newly created suburban community of Island Trees.  Their numbers started to increase and with the help of the Conservative Baptist Association property was purchased on Wolcott Road in Levittown.  This group of believers was organized under the name Wolcott Road Baptist Church.  They called their first pastor, Rev. Samuel Scales and held their first organized service under Pastor Scales in December of 1948.  Our church was incorporated on March 22, 1949 under the name Levittown Baptist Church.

The Present

Through the years we have continued through the years to provide a place of faith and community to the families of Central Nassau County. We have faithfully provided for worship, the study of God's Word, and outreach into our community. We continue to offer ministries dedicated to worship, the teaching of his Word, the encouragement of our children and youth, and supporting outreach in our community and around the world. In April of 2021, LBC officially adopted the membership of Redeeming Grace Fellowship, a church plant in Massapequa.

The Future

Our desire is to be a church that faithfully gathers and scatters, edifies and evangelizes, builds community, and burdens itself with Christ’s commission for central Nassau County and beyond. We hope to carry out these goals through Christ-centered preaching, Gospel-driven weekly corporate gatherings, community groups, community engagement, church planting, and missional lifestyles that reflect our missional Savior, Jesus.
