I've Been Everywhere, Man

July 2, 2023 Preacher: Caleb Bunch Series: Psalm 139

Topic: God's Omnipresence Scripture: Psalm 139:7-10

God Graciously allows us to experience His love through His attribute of Omnipresence

1. God is omnipresent in two ways

- Manifest presence of God: God shows himself in specific locations so we can experience him directly (Genesis 3:8 in the garden with Adam and Eve)

- Immense presence of God: God is everywhere at all times in his whole being           (Psalm 139:7)

2. You are not

- You can only be in one place at a time. You wil never be everywhere or know everything.

3. So What?

- For the sinner: God knows everything you do and say and everywhere you are.  But, if you turn to God and repent you can be saved.

- For the Christian:

1. The manifest presence of God is in us through the Holy Spirit. (1 Chorinthians 3:16)  Thus we can worship God anywhere at any time.

2. Our Mission will succeed. " I am with you always, even to the end of the age."     (Matt 28:19-20)

3. We have Comfort in God's presence. David (Psalm 139:9) Paul (1 Timothy 4 ;16-18)

4. We can be fearless because God is with us.

"Be strong and courageous for I will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9) The Holy Spirit lives in us guiding and comforting us (John 14:26,27)

5. Joy. "In God's presence there is fullnes of joy." (Psalm 16:11)

6. Holiness ; God's presence in us restrains our tendency to sin.

"Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. You are not your own. You were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body." (1 Corinthians 6:15-20)

7. God's omnipresence is displayed in His love for us.

"We are more than conquerors through him who loved us." (Romans 8:35-39)
