There is an evil one actively seeking to hinder gospel ministry. We cannot be ignorant of these machinations. We will be tempted to be moved away from Jesus Christ and the church by means of various afflictions which will always be present. God uses the same afflictions for our sanctification and to draw us closer to him and the body of Christ. Disciples of Jesus must work to establish and exhort one another in the faith.

Phil 1:29

When difficulty came to Paul, he was prepared for the affliction because he was grounded in the Word of God and he was able to endure.

Application:

1-Forget not that persecution exists.

2-See afflictions in light of God's sovereingty
