Of Mice and Men

December 3, 2023 Preacher: Caleb Bunch Series: 1 Samuel

Topic: Repentance Scripture: 1 Samuel 6:1-12

Q: How can you appease the anger of the Lord?

5 habits of unrepented people

1. They will twist what the Lord has told them to do and go to some other way instead of Gods way, the only way.

2. Take the practices of Gods people and warp it. Highly unrepentant people feel guilty and try to resolve it by doing "Christian things."

3. They only acknowledge sin generally not specifically. No one likes for sin to be examined closey. Sin must be cut off one by one not all at once.

4. They are only motivated by the threat of the judgement of God but in the end has no love for God. The gospel is not all about the avoidance of the judgement of God but rather to worship and love Jesus for His sacrifice on the cross.

5. As soon as a unrepentant person does not feel God's hand of judgement, they go back to their old ways. They are merely glad that God has turned a blind eye to them.

A: They cannot, we cannot appease the wrath of God because he will not accept any gift or sacrifice from us, but only a perfect one which was Jesus' death on the cross.

If you are in sin, do not seclude yourself from the congregation but rather confess your sins to Christ and the church.
