Saul's Best Day

January 28, 2024 Preacher: Caleb Bunch Series: 1 Samuel

Topic: Gladness Scripture: 1 Samuel 11

Today we consider the good, the bad, and the ugly of the events in 1 Samuel 11. Most importantly, we see how Saul prefigures the true and better King who would one day come and save His people from their sins.

 1) The bad - The violent history of Juda, Jabesh-Gilead and other cities nearby which lead up to the time of Saul.

 2) The Ugly - The Gory details of what the people did, even the Jews to each other and how disobeyed Gods rules.

 3)  The Good - God had the Holy Spirit rushed upon Saul to enable him to raise an army of 300,000 men and lead him to a clear victory.  Saul was not a good King, but God used him to do his will.

God sent Jesus to us to become our perfect King, who died on the cross for our sins, although we were still sinners.  Jesus' died so that we could have eternal life if we believe.
